Main purpose:
Supporting the Medical Director in through delegated task and responsibilities in monitoring the medical and organizational means of the activities in the hospital according to MSF protocols, procedures and project objectives in order to guarantee quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health condition of the target population
Accountabilities:
- Supporting the Medical Director in defining, monitoring the implementation of the hospital protocols, procedures and standards, assessing the different departments to ensure the quality of medical activities in the hospital;
- At the request of the Medical Director, representing hospital before third parties concerning medical issues, ensuring its good public image and the alignment with the project interests, through regular contacts with other actors in the country, negotiating with authorities when necessary, and informing on MSF charter, values and principles;
- Delegated by Medical director to manage all medical and diagnostic services, supervising the activities and ensures high quality standard applies in every service; monitors that medical treatments are appropriate according to MSF standard but also international, participates in clinical cases discussion, report medical errors and promote mortality review in case of death of a patient;
- Ensuring the admission criteria are implemented and respected as well as validates referral of patients to other hospital according with the referral policy and Procedure;
- Line-manages the laboratory and x-ray team with planning roosters, leaves, meetings, team evaluation and coordination of their activities;
- Supporting in medical data collection, analysis and reporting to the Medical director in order to ensure a proper monitoring of the program. Ensuring medical file of every patient is filled-in correctly and assuring the submission monthly reports of laboratory and radiology activities;
- Providing technical support to medical personnel through self-knowledge and policies; ensuring compliance with the protocols of MSF medical activities.;
- Plans and supervises, in close coordination with the Medical Director, in the induction of the medical staff of the project;
- Collaborate with the project pharmacy manager for an efficient management of the project pharmacy and medical equipment, in collaboration with the Logistics department and in consideration of program directions and protocol changes. Monitors consumption and preparation of medical orders to provide drugs at all circumstances and avoid stock shortage;
- Assisting in implementing the staff health policies for international and national staff in order to ensure its overall safety (i.e. monitors both physical and mental health state of staff, promotes compliance of all related protocols and procedures and collaborates in the update of issues regarding the security context).
Experience:
- Essential: 2 year working experience related to the diploma/degree.
- Desirable: Previous experience in hospital management is an Asset. Also, previous experience in MSF in the field or other NGOs is an Asset.
