SWM Project Officer – Bekaa

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES, TASKS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Conduct assessments of municipal capacity and solid waste management systems,
  • Lead and monitor waste characterization activities, and supervise assigned laborers,
  • Provide relevant and accurate reporting of findings,
  • Assist in the development of recommendations for improving solid waste management systems in each municipality,
  • Support the development of upgraded solid waste management system as approved by the municipality,
  • Implement activities to enhance solid waste management systems in each municipality,
  • Act as a focal point for municipalities,
  • Assist in RFP development for different contracted services,
  • Ensure that the progress of infrastructural works (construction) is according to set plan and implemented in a timely manner,
  • Prepare plans for the allocation and distribution of supplies;
  • Facilitate capacity building activities targeting municipality staff and other stakeholders,
  • Maintain close relationships with the municipalities and ensure coordination with key stakeholders at the community level;
  • Report on the progress of the work to the project manager;
  • Report issues and constraints arising from project implementation;
  • Ensure that the weekly/monthly work plan is respected on the field including development of activities, results, challenges and achievements of project as per templates,
  • Collect M&E data and provide relevant reporting;
  • Identify areas for possible activities improvement,
  • Perform other tasks, as requested by the Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • University degree in a related field (environmental sciences, engineering, etc..)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in coordinating SWM projects;
  • Sound experience in M&E and report writing;
  • Experience in training and capacity building;
  • Experience in working with local governance and municipalities;
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic.
  • Excellent skills in common software packages (MS Excel, MS Word…)

  • Driving skills/car
