Job Title: National consultant - Risk Assessment Data Collection and Analysis
Minimum number of years of relevant experience required: University degree in Agro-food sciences, particularly food safety, with at least 10 years of experience in the field
Expected Start of Assignment: Upon commencement of project implementation
Duration: 120 days spread over the project period
Location: Lebanon
Reports to: FAO Representative in Lebanon
Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved (per mission if applicable)
The consultant shall implement the activities designated for output 1: “Risk potential primary agricultural and food products are identified and contaminants to be assessed in the program are selected”. Tasks shall include but not limited to:
- Identify different universities and institutions involved in conducting studies on Lebanese food consumption patterns and food baskets;
- Collect from these institutions different studies and data on Lebanese food consumption and market basket studies…;
- List different contaminants found in according to available national and international data,
- Collect relevant data, information, and studies related to food safety control, different contaminants’ levels in Lebanese food products, economic impact of different food commodities, health effect of contaminants on Lebanese population, and food import/export system…;
- Create a booklet with summary of relevant data on every contaminant and its effects on Lebanese health status and/or Lebanese economy;
- Determine contaminants to be assessed based on findings of risk profile, characterization and prioritization.
- preparation of an integrated quantitative/qualitative risk assessment presentation materials based on findings of previous tasks
- Participate and present findings at the inception workshop including priority lists of at least 10 risk potential contaminants and their food item associations
- Prepare report on Output 1 in coordination with the national consultant in risk management
