Country Manager- Lebanon

Role's Responsibilities:

The Lebanon Country Manager is Diakonia’s official representative in the country managing a dynamic staff and three ongoing programs. The Country Manager will strategize, manage and strengthen Diakonia’s development and humanitarian programs in Lebanon by managing existing contracts, networking within relevant diplomatic and donor networks, and coordinating strategic programmatic and fundraising efforts with the Regional Office. In collaboration with the Regional Office for the Middle East, the Lebanon Country manager has the following responsibilities:

• Ensure smooth management and coordination of day to day activities and operations of the Country Program.
• Provide overall leadership and oversee the implementation of the Country Program 
• Be the employer’s representative with regards to human resources, and with approval from Regional and Deputy Regional Manager, appoint personnel to the country team
• Oversee the development and implementation of the Country Program strategy and ensure its alignment to both the Diakonia Global Policy and the legislative requirements of the Country of operations.
• Develop and implement the annual operating and work plans, management plans and budgets for the Country Program.
• Maintain an up to date security plan and for the security of all employees in the country office.
• Provide the Regional Office with required quarterly reports, final draft documentation on strategy and programs, such as a country strategy, proposals and reports to back donors.
• To sign agreements with partner organizations 
• To be responsible for budgets and budget follow up in cooperation with a financial officer
• To manage and develop sustainable funding, finance and administration for the country program and office.
• To manage relations with donors, government representatives, UN and embassies in the country.
• Work in close coordination with Diakonia’s Regional Office for the Middle East and Head Office in Stockholm to ensure that the Lebanon Country Office and its work integrate and reflect Diakonia’s corporate strategy and priorities, business processes, and work-flow.

Role's Qualifications

• A minimum of five year’s relevant experience of development and humanitarian work in a managerial position in an international organization, UN or international NGO
• Master’s degree in development, NGO management, Business Administration, political science, social science or related field.
• Strong skills and competences in:

1. Financial management.
2. Monitoring and evaluation.
3. Program development and management.
4. Fundraising, donor relations and relations with diplomatic actors.
5. Knowledge of Diakonia’s thematic areas i.e. democracy, human rights, gender, social and economic rights, peace and conflict, climate change and humanitarian work. (diakonia.se)
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Strong organizational skills are an asset.
8. Networking, listening and conflict management skills.
9. Team building skills and strong interpersonal relations.
