Social Worker

Job purpose

The Social Worker is a full time position. The Social Worker assumes a role dealing with a variety of groups and individuals at Ana Aqra Association, in the school setting and in the community.  In this very demanding position, a Social Worker will serve to execute the project work plan in coordination and by supporting the Project Manager.

The Social Worker will make sure that all required reports and documents requested by the Project Manager are secured and submitted on time.

Duties and responsibilities

• Identifies parents and learners who need help
• Assesses clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals
• Develops plans to improve the learner’ well-being
• Helps refugee parents to cope and adapt to challenges in their lives
• Responds to crisis situations such as child abuse
• Advocates for positive parenting
• Follows up with parents to ensure that their situations have improved
• Protects vulnerable refugees children and help families in need of assistance.
• Helps parents find services, such as child care, or apply for benefits, such as food stamps.
• Intervenes when children are in danger of neglect or abuse.
• Works with teachers, parents, and school administrators to develop plans and strategies to improve students’ academic performance and social development.
•  Deals with problems such as aggressive behavior, bullying, or frequent absences from school.

School social workers may be assigned to multiple centers and rotate around the centers to work with learners and parents.

Qualifications

·  Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.

·  Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment.

·  Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

·  Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.

·  Organization, and ability to meet deadlines.

·  Ability to work and manage affairs professionally and with maturity.

·  Developed skills with computer applications including word and Excel in particular.

Degree:

Bachelor degree in Social work

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

2 to 3 years
