GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of Hygiene Promotion Supervisor and within the Hygiene Promotion team, the Hygiene Promotion Community Mobilizer is responsible for implementing activities related to the empowerment and mobilization of community members within hygiene promotion activities.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Social Work, Sociology or Teaching diploma

Required Competences : Motivation/ Teamwork / Effective Communication / Organization and Planning / Adaptability and Flexibility / Innovation and Creativity / Inspirational Leadership / Analytical Capacity / Gender Sensitive

Key requirements include : Strong communication skills, used to speak in public and work dynamically with adults and children. Knowledge of community capacity building.
At least 1 year of experience in: Participatory community development principles, conduct outreach activities, conduct assessments and data entry, children and vulnerable people, experience in a similar position.

Fluent in Arabic and good English 

Computer skills : Microsoft Office, especially Excel

DETAILED OBJECTIVES AND TASKS

Objective 1 : Implement activities related to the empowerment and awareness raising of community members in project areas, West Beeka or Aarsal (40%)

Incorporate participatory principles into community-level awareness raising sessions in hygiene promotion, nutrition and health, in coordination with the Hygiene Promotion Field Officers and the Hygiene Promotion Supervisor *** Organize and deliver community awareness raising events and safety audits as determined by project objectives on health and hygiene topics *** Identify the most appropriate approach and methodology regarding the target population *** Support the achievement of gender equity in regard to field of Hygiene Promotion

Objective 2 : Conduct of social mobilization and sensitization (40 %)

Carry out community mobilization and assist the team in capacity building activities with community members, and maintain strong community relationships *** Increase community participation during the project cycle and implementation including needs assessments, data collection, baseline, distribution and impact survey, evaluations, and quality and quantity impact reporting *** Promote and motivate inclusive participation of the community in all project activities *** Carry out community mobilization and assist the team in capacity building activities with community members, and maintain strong community relationships

Objective 3 : Reporting (20%)

Report the progress of the work to the supervisor *** Report possible problem or conflict during the activities *** Report the use of materials and possible improvement

Objective 4 : Security

Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols *** Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan

Objective 5 : Support to Action Against Hunger humanitarian goals

Support emergency interventions, as per the employee's capacities *** Support any activity that helps achieving Action Against Hunger humanitarian goals, as per the employee's capacities *** Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work
