Danmissions work in the MENA region focuses on: dialogue and interreligious understanding, minority rights, inclusive citizenship, poverty reduction and Church development. Danmission has been present in the MENA region for more than 100 years. Currently, Danmission is supporting projects in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt and Jordan. Danmission is an independent Danish NGO connected to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark. In 2018, Danmission is initiating the implementation of an EU/DANIDA financed 3-year project “interfaith and intercultural dialogue”, which will be implemented in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon 2018-2020. In this connection, Danmission is searching for a EU grant and MEL officer to join our team in our new regional office in Beirut, Lebanon. The position will include frequent travel to Syria and Iraq and possibly other countries in the region.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the timely implementation of the EU/DANIDA funded project “interfaith and intercultural dialogue” and responsible for the technical quality of the project implementation in accordance with EU and DANIDA conditions and requirements
- Responsible for the designing and implementation of the project’s monitoring, evaluation and learning component, incl. overall coordination of baseline study, in cooperation with the MEL team at Danmission HQ. This including the use of outcome mapping, measure and assess the realization of project outputs and objectives, and propose timely adjustments for the project.
- Coordinating the data collection in accordance with logframe indicators/sources of verification and project objectives, including supporting and supervising co-applicants in doing so.
- Responsible for collecting timely reports from co-applicants and finalizing interim and final narrative reports to donors in accordance with relevant templates, requirements and deadlines.
- Responsible for monitoring and supporting co-applicants, including defining and supervising on capacity building needs and plans.
- Contributing to the developing and updating the Danmission MENA strategy and project proposals as relevant
- Representing Danmission as part of the implementation of activities to co-applicants and stakeholders; attending relevant conferences, coordination and donor meetings
REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in development work, including previous experiences with Grant and MEL coordination
•Extensive experience of working with external funding, preferably EU grants. Evidence of understanding the challenges of donor and contract management and the implications for project implementation and management.
•Proven experience working with intercultural and/or interreligious dialogue
•Extensive knowledge and experience of project planning and budget holding; proposal and report writing.
•Knowledge and understanding of project management tools (Theory of Change, Logical Framework analysis, project cycle management, objectives and indicators etc.)
•Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic. Danish and/or French is an asset.
