Junior Analyst - Humanitarian Access Team (Re-Advertised)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

The Junior Analyst, in coordination with other HAT personnel, will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities and roles:

  • In coordination with the IM officer, collect, clean, and organize qualitative data from field researchers
  • Translate, synthesize, and analyze primary qualitative data related to local political, economic, and social trends.
  • Draft community, context, and conflict sensitivity assessments
  • Analyze humanitarian projects through a conflict sensitivity perspective
  • Review the qualitative data provided by external researchers, also providing feedback and follow-up as necessary
  • Corroborate primary qualitative data using multiple primary and secondary sources
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of assessment templates and analysis products
  • Assist in the drafting of work plans for contextual assessments in coordination with the RAU Lead
  • In coordination with the IM Officer, assist in the collection of contextual qualitative data, providing situation updates and reporting on incidents of concern to appropriate HAT units

 

The Junior Analyst will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Analysis contributing towards drafting context, conflict sensitivity, and community assessments, stakeholder mapping analyses, humanitarian project analyses, and other HAT products
  • The provision of comprehensive, clean, and translated of sets qualitative data
  • Participation in all RAU various projects and products
  • Support to other HAT units and products as requested

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Middle Eastern studies, international affairs, social studies, political studies, or other relevant field. Master’s degree in any of these fields is considered an advantage.
  • Native Arabic speaker required.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Previous work experience in the humanitarian sector considered an advantage
  • Active interest in media relations
  • Active interest in Middle East humanitarian and development issues
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Solid computer skills. Must be able to work effectively and accurately with Microsoft Word, Google docs, Excel, email and internet applications 
  • Flexible work attitude: able to work productively in a team environment as well as independently
