Vocational Training Officer

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Develop and implement ideas for vocational programs with women and youth.
  • Organize field meeting with the community disseminating the main topic of the project and the vocational training opportunities for youth.
  • Supervise in the collection of data for beneficiary verifications and households assessments related to vocational training
  • Organize Focus group discussion with women and youth to establish the training interest and level.
  • Assist the PM in preparing vocational training activity plans, in consultation with the training providers and beneficiaries.
  • Lead the data collection on the local labour market and enter collected information on job vacancies, training opportunities and self-employment support programmes into the database 
  • Establish and maintain contact and productive working relationships with community representatives, local and international organizations, jobseekers/beneficiaries and employers as related to life skill development.
  • Create a network SME (Small and medium enterprise) able to offer job opportunities to SIF beneficiaries at the end of the vocational training.
  • Supervise regular follow up with the beneficiaries when inserted in the labour market through the SME or self-employed.
  • Supervise the vulnerability profiling  and vocational trainings assessment in the field
  • Supervise the vocational training activities and lliaise on a daily basis with the training suppliers, the teachers and youth.
  • Organize vocational workshop with women and supervise the implementation, ensuring that all logistical arrangements are taken and that beneficiaries attend regularly 
  • Ensure that the transportation to and from schools (bus and transportation fees)
  • Ensure all vocational skill-building take place in a safe environment as dictated by women and youth
  • Collect all information sheets (beneficiary lists, registration forms, and others) at the training venue and submit them to the Database Officer on a timely basis, in order to ensure prompt data entry
  • Find proper location/institute for Training and workshop
  • Organize meetings, FGDs and information sessions with vocational training beneficiaries
  • In collaboration with the PM develop the evaluation tools to monitor the vocational training effectiveness as well to assess the impact of the delivered courses
  • Collect case studies and success stories according to SIF guidelines, document all lessons learned and best practices
  • Any additional related task assigned by line manager.

REPORTING

Reports directly to SIF’s, Project Manager/line manager and Beirut Office. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of each week:

  • Ensure a daily proper recording of data (# of trainees, Course, activities delivered, etc);
  • Centralize all information gathered in the field and consolidate a daily report (into the proper reporting format);
  • The Narrative Report which includes: the number of beneficiaries, actions taken, number activities conducted, Counseling activities, number of people attending the session with breakdown per age group and gender;
  • Provide regular reporting on your activities to the PM and Programme Coordinator upon his/her solicitation.

  • Openness to working with refugees as well as with Lebanese beneficiaries
  • Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality
  • Respect and promote SIF’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of SIF’s policies amongst the teams or partners
  • Abide and sign the SIF code of conduct and respect to child Protection protocol
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
  • Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers
  • Always respect a refusal of treatment

PERSON QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications, experience and competencies

  • University degree in Sociology, Social Workers or any other related degree
  • 2 years’ experience in livelihood, community mobilization and participatory decision making highly preferred and valued
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in conducting emergency assessments, field-level data collection, and experience analyzing field data and concisely reporting on results.
  • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility and organizational skills
  • NGO experience preferred
  • Good experiences in counselling
  • Experience in working with private sectors and understanding of job markets
  • Good Command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing)
  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in environment with tight deadlines;
  • Rigorous, and polite
  • Respect of SIF values and mandate
