The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is a German political foundation affiliated with the German party “Die Linke” (The Left Party). RLS is a provider of civic education and a center for progressive social research (www.rosalux.de). Since May 2017, RLS has opened its office in Beirut.
The Beirut Office is looking for an editor to support the publication of bi-annual journal of labour in Lebanon.
The journal shall deal with different topics and aspects of labour in Lebanon. Its publication language is Arabic
Time frame: 8 months
Starting Date: 01.03.2018
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Choose topics to be written on and published within the journal together with the responsible project manager
- Select writers/journalists to research and write on topics related to labor in Lebanon
- Communicate effectively with writers and fulfill project deadlines
- Edit documents to ensure quality, adjusting the style as necessary, ensuring consistency in narrative text, footnotes and tables
- Coordinate with web designers/graphic designer for the visual and technical implementation of the publication of the journal
- Coordinate closely with the team of RLS Beirut during the whole process
Requirements of the applicant
- Bachelor Degree in Journalism/Documentation or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in editing, journalism
- Good analytical and factual understanding of the topic of labour in Lebanon and in the MENA region
- Experience in project coordination and management
- Sharing the understandings and values of RLS
- Fluency in written Arabic
- This is a remote, work-from-home position
