Project Manager - Tripoli

Job description:

Project management related tasks:

  • To implement the work plan.
  • To guarantee the implementation of the day-to-day project operations.
  • To ensure that the project component managed by Peace Labs meets its targets and to work jointly with the project partners in order to make sure that the overall project meets its objectives.
  • To monitor the budget, until the end of the project.
  • To attend the majority of project activities.

Team management and support:

  • To support and work with the project team at Peace Labs.
  • To identify external consultants when needed and prepare Terms of Reference (TORs) for them.
  • To ensure good relationships between participating partners and staff.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • To produce monthly and final narrative and financial reports (in English) as required.
  • To ensure the project evidence of activities and outputs are well documented in order to meet donor requirements and for Peace Labs to share lessons learned and knowledge relevant to donors, other organizations and people interested in our field of work.
  • Internal and external information sharing.


Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • To ensure that the project is monitored and evaluated and that these findings are shared with the participating communities, the partners and the funding agencies.
  • Ensure that findings, lessons learned and documentation are compiled and shared within Peace Labs for continued internal learning.

 Management of relations with partners and donors:

  • To liaise closely with project partners.
  • To ensure good relationships with the donor by attending periodic meetings and maintaining good communication.

Representation:

  • To represent the project vis-a-vis the communities.
  • To build good rapports with key community members.

Staff management:

  • Overall coordination of the project staff and teams.
  • To manage the relations between the staff.
  • To address conflicts or tensions that might arise amongst staff.

Security:

  • To assist in monitoring the security situation in the project area, and to inform the Director and the other partners of any potential risks and recommend appropriate action.

Fundraising:

  • To support the Director in any fundraising efforts aiming at securing current and future support to the project.

 

 

Required qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in peace and conflict studies, social science, sociology, political science, international affairs, psychology, or any other related field. (MA is a plus)
  • Appropriate training e.g. project management / conflict resolution/ education / development, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of community-based transformation, inclusive processes and social change.
  • Local knowledge of Tripoli is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience of NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector.
  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
