For Short-Term Assignment for an expert/service provider to elaborate a “Guideline including agricultural practices for cherry, in order to reach the integrated crop management (ICM) certificate.”

Tasks must be done during the period from March 1 till  july 31, 2018.

GAP analysis study (6 working days):

The consultant makes a preliminary visit for cherry farmers in wadi al aarayech and kaa el rim. During the initial visits, he evaluates the status of different orchards: analyse type of soils, the quality of water used for irrigation, and other important factors. Then he will identify the gaps for the two villages and provide an adequate methodology  and provide solutions to correct them.

Gather data, and make data analysis with recommendations to elaborate guideline including good agricultural practices in order to obtain the ICM certification (17 working days) (deadline end of march 2018).

Elaboration of a detailed Guideline (in english and Arabic) for cherry Integrated crop management to obtain the ICM certification including:  

  • ICM technical guideline for cherry farmers to help them to respect all procedures and good practices. Farmers will be able to determine the adequacy of their agricultural practices and their conformity to the requirements of the standard.
  • The technical manual will include all the agricultural practices compliance and how it should be managed to imply adherence to the national and EU regulations.

ICM guideline will include, but not limited to, the following practices according to the EU regulations:

  • Introduction and environmental care (including what is ICM, its objectives, ecological measures…)
  • Orchard management (including orchard environment, choice of cultivar according to different conditions, planting system, fertilization, weed management, irrigation, pruning, fruit quality, IPM …)
  • Harvest and post-harvest at farm level (including harvest, products delivery, grading, packaging….)
  • Register and labeling (bookkeeping, labeling…)
  • Controls and sanctions
  • Record keeping template

ICM guideline approved by certification body (certification body to be determined):

Expert should work closely with an accredited certification body in order to get the approval on the final guideline before sending the final version to CCIAZ.

Guideline ICM training (2 working days):

Expert should deliver two training sessions (one for wadi al Arayech and one for kaa el rim) to inform farmers how to use the manual and how to fill the record keeping documents.

He or She should prepare training presentation and training evaluation report for both trainings

ICM Certificate implementation (25 working days):

Expert should follow up with interested farmers the implementation of the delivered guideline by conducting weekly field visits that will be planned with CCIAZ in order to make sure that farmers are implementing the requirements to get the certification.

  • Pre-assessment report (in English) including site assessment of the cherry orchards (soil and water analysis and other relevant analysis).
  • Guideline for cherry integrated crop management for wadi al aarayech and kaa el rim villages (in english and Arabic).
  • Approval from certification body regarding ICM guideline.
  • Record keeping template (in Arabic)
  • Power point presentation for training (in Arabic).
  • Training evaluation reports (in English)
  • Follow up field visit reports (in English)
