Facilitator/moderator

Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last couple of years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. AND is currently working on several initiatives aiming to build and strengthen the capacities of local authorities, along with the implementation of protection efforts aiming to reduce violence against women and children, and youth/women empowerment and inclusion in the public life

AND has been working on youth empowerment and inclusion in the public life, while aiming to lower tensions and reduce conflicts. This entails involving youth in acknowledging their needs, identifying their priorities and ultimately participating in designing and implementing community support projects for their communities. In this respect, AND is in need of a professional facilitator to provide the following services.

The trainer/facilitator must facilitate the focus group discussions and workshops with committees and community members in Akkar. The main tasks to be completed by the trainer shall be:

• Design and present a training agenda and a detailed timetable of the workshop outlining the topics to be covered;
• Prepare needed visuals to enhance the quality of learning for trainees.
• Develop pre-and post-tests and evaluation forms to be completed by the participants in order to properly document the activity and assess the progress of the participants through the workshops;
• Identify and assess training needs
• Prepare FGD questionnaire, conduct FGD and prepare a detailed report of the discussions.

The trainer/facilitator is required to have

• Excellent communication, oral, and written skills
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills

• must be comfortable with working with group dynamics while managing the meeting or activity process.
• A good listener with the ability to capture the essence of what people say and capture it in writing
• Good writing and editing skills to be able to produce an effective summary of each session
• Developing a comprehensive summary of all focus group input
• Have experience facilitating group processes and be comfortable in a wide variety of group dynamics.
•  Be able to exercise a degree of unobtrusive control over the focus group participants.
•  Exhibit authentic curiosity about the discussion topic and about the focus group participants viewpoints and perceptions.
• Demonstrate respect for the wisdom and knowledge of the focus group participants.
• must be competent at making observations and recognizing when interactions, situations or group dynamics change.
