GVC, member of the consortium MiyahCon, intends to hire a Communication Specialist for its projects related to improvement of Water Services for Lebanese Municipalities.
The projects aim at ensuring the provision of reliable and sustainable water services to Host Communities and Syrian Refugees by strengthening infrastructural and managerial capacities of local Water Establishments.
The main results of the actions are:
1: Improved access to improved water public services;
2: Improved capacity of Lebanese Water Establishments (W.E.s) to provide a quality service to all customers and collect water payment fees;
3: Reduced HH expenditure on water;
4: Increased regional knowledge sharing, between countries, affected by the Syrian crisis, on the impact of the crisis on Water Supply and Management.
Objective of Position
The Communications Specialist will help to develop, implement, and monitor communications activities to promote project benefits, challenges, and successes for the whole MiyahCon Consortium.
Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities
- Assist in the implementation of the MiyahCon Communication and Outreach Plan
- Develop engaging and effective communication and media materials for social and traditional media channels such as press releases, success stories, social media posts, etc.
- Suggest clear engaging posts on social media based on a communication monthly plan
- Analyze, evaluate, and adapt social media campaigns and strategies to reach desired outcomes
- Identify new opportunities and innovative practices on the use social and digital platforms
- Monitor trends in social media tools to stay relevant with social media approach
- Research and connect further with water sector related organizations and influencing people;
- Assist in growing web traffic for project social media pages and websites by evaluating and improving the SEO.
- Create guidance and tools to implement communications and advocacy activities
- Draft and edit written content for internal reporting and reporting to project stakeholders
- Assist in organizing events, workshops, and meetings and develop related promotional materials
- Document events and activities
- Support in the creation and regular update and maintenance of the website
- Assist in drafting, designing and producing of a bi-monthly newsletter, project brochure leaflets and banners
- Assist with media monitoring about MiyahCon and/or topics of interest to MiyahCon
- Develop requests for proposal and scopes of work for communication activities
- Ensure visibility compliance with all stakeholders guidelines
- Other duties as assigned by senior leadership
Reporting:
Reports and assists the consortium social activities coordinator and the whole Coordination structure of MiyahCon consortium.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, communications, journalism or other relevant discipline
- Arabic and English fluency required, with demonstrated excellent professional-level writing and editing skills in both languages
- Minimum two years’ experience in communications, digital advertising, and social media
- Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media
- Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing
- Experience effectively communicating information and ideas in written and visual formats
- Proficiency in MS Office required with graphic design and photo/video experience preferred
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, interpersonal, communications, and teamwork skills
- Hardworking, energetic, willing to learn and contribute toward the MiyahCon project goal.
- An eye for detail and impeccable grammar
- Able to work with minimal direction and supervision, independent and self-sufficient.
