Community Health Worker / Mobilizer

Main purpose:

The Community Mobilizer and Community Health Worker will provide information and health education messages at the community level, and will strengthen the link between the community and the MSF health structures (Bar Elias Hospital).

Accountabilities:

• Deliver information to the community on the services offered at the MSF Bar Elias hospital, the referral pathway and other specific health topics and about MSF.
• Support the mapping of the territory and population: ITS, PHCs and Hospitals and facilitate relations with local authorities of the community, where requested by the HP Manager.
• Collect and report to the            Head of Community Health Workers/Social worker  specific information related to the community: perception of the services offered at the Bar Elias hospital, constraints and strengths, vulnerability, level of information, living conditions and related risks;
• Support with the identification of people with medical problems that meet the MSF Bar Elias Hospital admission criteria. Help people in the community locate and find the Hospital;
• Support in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the MSF Bar Elias Hospital referral strategy;
• Consolidate the link between the  community and the MSF services; give advice how to better involve the community in the activities of awareness and prevention;
• Indicate possible local actors or local NGOs and community project which could be involved in awareness activities at a local level;
• Report to Head of Community Health Workers/Social worker and HP Manager: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints;

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High School Diploma is Mandatory
• Training in CHW will be an asset

Experience

• Has to be someone very active and well accepted in the community
• Familiar with the Informal settle tents.

Languages       

• Arabic speaking is Mandatory; English speaking would be an asset.
