Shelter Technical Assistant (Lebanese Nationals Only)

Functions

To ensure the adequate implementation of small to medium scale civil works/infrastructure construction in the target areas as well as developing projects related to improving basic services as per technical standards and project objectives. Duties and responsibilities include:

• Review of project plans and technical documents prior to implementation to ensure feasibility and accuracy of inputs required (in terms of quality and quantity);
• Contribute to the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of technical criteria in tender bids;
• Daily supervision of construction site and work of ACTED contractor, complete daily report on construction progress, quantities delivered to the site, site conditions, photo documentation;
• Prepare weekly report on construction progress and any challenges/delays in workplan;

Qualifications

• Educational background in civil engineering or strong experience in site supervision of electrical, plumbing and/or civil works.
• Experience working on small to medium scale construction projects through contractors;
• Strong communication, inter-personal skills, and diplomacy;
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Ability to draft detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner;
• Highly motivated and with a desire to work with vulnerable local communities;
• Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people;
• Spoken Arabic is required. Spoken and written English is strongly preferred. Spoken French is an asset.
• Working knowledge of computers using MS Word and Excel among other packages. Communicate effectively through email and use of internet.
