Hospitality-Waiter Trainer (National Contract)

The Sewing and Tailoring Trainer will be responsible to engage young people with a programme of development that will provide them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to start this career.The role of the Waiter Trainer is to provide the trainees with the required customer services basics in restaurants including knowledge of customer services, Food and beverage serving, in addition to follow up attendance, assess learning effectiveness, and perform daily tasks.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Having the qualifications and the abilities to provide the trainees with basic waiter concept and technics about the following subjects: Sanitation, hygiene, communication with clients, table etiquette, table set up, carrying food and beverages, measures related to food temperature. Maintain professional food outlet standards and environment throughout shift; Develop communication and social skills for hospitality; Deliver effective guest service; Serve food and beverages, waste management, and Complete food outlet shift effectively.  

• Additional minor training on handling the cash register, bills, payments, complaints, clients’ expectations, and telephone calls. 

• Prepare classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts and setting up the room before each class. 

• Consistently keep a record of attendance and participation of trainees and track repetitive absence to report it to DRC Livelihood staff.  

• Develop a midterm and a final exam to evaluate the learning effectiveness and support DRC staff in developing the pre and post-tests. 

• Provide weekly reports to measure progress, identify barriers to learning and recommend action to overcome barriers. 

• Provide weekly work plan to the Livelihood staff and report final grades to Line Manager. 

• Targeted audience will be a Vulnerable beneficiaries selected by DRC and the classes will be Mixed of Youth and Adults (18-50 years old), Lebanese and Syrians, Male and Female. 

• If shortlisted the candidate will not only be interviewed but also will be required to present a lesson to a jury of DRC staff and trainees, he/she is also required to provide a 80hours’ curriculum for a Waiter class and to suggest learning materials (Teaching books titles).

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Vocational Diploma or higher. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• Experience in working with the local environment, Minimum of 2 years’ experienceas a restaurant manager or a captain waiter in North Lebanon. 

• Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable trainees, ability to respect the participants’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally 

• Personal capabilities: Team work, flexibility, integrity, conflict resolution capabilities, ability to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting. 

• Arabic : Native 

• English: Basic

Desirable

• Experience in teaching in NGOs is a plus.

We offer

  • Contract length: max. 2 Months 
  • Level: 3 to 4 days/per week, max 80hrs (2 months) , 12.5$/per hour 
  • Duty Station: Akkar 
  • Start date: First of May 2018
