Photography Trainer (National Contract)

About the job 

The purpose of the Photography course is to engage vulnerable trainees in Skills development program that will provide them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to start this career. The role of the Photography Trainer is helping them obtain the artistic qualities of the photographic standards while acquiring the techniques for utilizing photography for expressive purposes. Instruction includes studio and field techniques, photojournalism, Photoshop, and photo/video montage. In producing their own works and by studying the photographs of others, students will develop a base for making informed aesthetic judgments. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Instructors should also illustrate theory sessions with examples of how the learning could be applied in the workplace.  

• Maintain a safe and effective teaching / learning environment during the sessions and report any incident to DRC Livelihood staff. 

• Provide and work on course outline, schemes of work, and lesson plans. 

• Prepare classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts and setting up the room before each class. 

• Consistently keep a record of attendance and participation of trainees and track repetitive absence to report it to DRC Livelihood staff.  

• Provide accurate teacher evaluation about each student when needed 

• Develop a midterm and a final exam to evaluate the learning effectiveness.  

• Support DRC staff in developing the pre and post-tests. 

• Adjust methods as per the results of the Trainer’s evaluation. 

• Provide weekly reports to measure progress, identify barriers to learning and recommend action to overcome barriers;  

Target Audience: 

• Vulnerable beneficiaries selected by DRC,  

• Mixed classes of Youth and Adults (18-50 years old), Lebanese and Syrians, Male and Female.

About you 

• To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Vocational Diploma or higher. 

Moreover, we also expect the following:  

Required: 

• Experience in working with the local environment 

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Photographer and video editor in North Lebanon. 

• Demonstrate understanding of working with vulnerable trainees, ability to respect the participants’ culture and beliefs and the ability to treat them all equally 

Desirable:  

• Experience in teaching in NGOs is a plus.

We offer 

  • Contract length: 2 months, 3 or 4 days a week, for a total period of 80 hours 
  • Level: Trainer 
  • Salary: 12.5 USD/hour 
  • Duty Station: Tripoli 
  • Start date: May 2018
