Call for part-time editor and website designer

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is a German political foundation affiliated with the German party “Die Linke” (The Left Party). RLS is a provider of civic education and a center for progressive social research (www.rosalux.de). Since May 2017, RLS has opened its office in Beirut.

The Beirut Office is looking for a part-time editor and website designer to support the maintenance of the RLS Beirut office website and to support the publishing of texts, articles and pictures in English and Arabic.

Time frame: 7 months

Starting Date: 01.06.2018

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Choose topics to be written on and articles published within the website (in close cooperation with the responsible project manager)
• Select writers/journalists to research and write on certain topics
• Communicate effectively with writers and fulfil project deadlines
• Edit documents to ensure quality, adjusting the style as necessary, ensuring consistency in narrative text, footnotes and tables (in Arabic and English)
• Coordinate with translators
• Publish the finalised texts on the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Beirut office website
• Coordinate closely with the team of RLS Beirut during the whole process

Requirements of the applicant

• Bachelor Degree in Journalism/Documentation/web design or multi media management/design
• Experience in editing, journalism, web design and translation
• Good analytical and factual understanding of political scene and developments Lebanon and in the MENA region
• Experience in project coordination and management
• Sharing the understandings and values of RLS
• Fluency in written Arabic and English
• This is a remote, work-from-home position
