Business Trainer

In 2010, IECD has launched its Support to Micro and Small Enterprises program in Tripoli, which builds the skills of micro and small business owners through a proven program that includes but is not limited to basic management training, an individualized approach to beneficiaries and a rigorous follow-up system. The program is successfully implemented in nine countries and Lebanon is among them.

To successfully implement the program, IECD is looking to recruit a full-time business trainer.

MISSION

The MSE trainer will work closely with and report directly to the Project Manager. He/she will implement the established program strategy, relying on IECD training methodology. He/she is required to maintain high quality services with the beneficiaries while establishing strong and professional bonds. Additionally, the MSE trainer will be required to work closely with partner organizations on beneficiary outreach and selection for the training programs, respect IECD methodology standards and quality of content delivery, collect data accurately and respect the beneficiaries’ privacy as well as the confidentiality of delivered materials and training systems.

 

Along with all other members of IECD’s staff, it is the trainer’s role to preserve, respect and positively develop IECD’s reputation.

 

The trainer will be provided all training materials as well as a comprehensive training program to ensure he/she is well equipped to carry out in class and on the field components of his job.

 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Trainer will be responsible of:

 

1.   Identification and Recruitment of Beneficiaries

  • In close collaboration with partner organizations, identify areas with a large concentration of small and micro businesses.
  • Connect with relevant community centers, associations and NGOs to outreach for the program.
  • Conduct on-the-field visits, interview and select potential beneficiaries based on a set of objective criteria.
  • Organize “orientation” sessions with selected beneficiaries to make sure of their level of commitment and self-discipline as well as their desire and willingness to grow/stabilize their activities.

 

2.   Delivery of Training Programs

  • Plan and organize training timelines according to beneficiaries’ availability.
  • Deliver start-up, basic management and complementary trainings to selected beneficiaries, including theoretical and practical classes as well as field visits.
  • Provide beneficiaries with the support and training materials needed.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries understand the training content and apply it in their businesses through regular individual follow-up field visits during and after the program.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with beneficiaries as well as local organizations to facilitate the training process. (at different levels, for collection of beneficiaries’ names, fees collection, etc.)
  1. Development of the Entrepreneurs’ Club
  • Develop a relevant communication strategy to outreach for the Entrepreneurs’ Club and invite MSE beneficiaries to become Club members.
  • In close collaboration with the Project Manager, implement and coordinate monthly activities and annual events.
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Management
  • Ensure that MSE reporting tools and forms are dully filled in a timely manner.
  • Collect relevant data and input it in IECD’s database to assess the project’s impact and outcomes as well as the beneficiaries’ profiles and progress
  • Identify and report success stories for communication purposes

EXPECTED PROFILE

Nationality:    Lebanese nationality compulsory

Education:      University graduate, preferably in the fields of Business Administration, Marketing and Sales or Engineering.

Experience:    Two years in the fields mentioned above as well as in teaching, training and/or coaching.

Skills and qualities expected:

  • Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills
  • Strong motivation to work on the field with various profiles of beneficiaries and partners
  • Adaptability and excellent listening skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong autonomy
  • Ability to identify project objectives and work towards them
  • Ability to co-develop and follow a detailed project plan to track progress
  • Ability to use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, procurement and costs
  • Native command of the Arabic language and a good level of spoken and written English
  • Driving license is a plus.

CONDITIONS

  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Status: consultancy contract, for one year renewable
  • Location: Azmi Street, Tripoli with significant portions of the job on the field.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • Compensation Package: To be defined according to profile and experience
