ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Case Management Officer, the Child Protection Case worker will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management, targeting highly vulnerable children and families including refugees and host- communities, enabling them to meet their basic needs whilst enhancing protection through a holistic approach.
Child Safeguarding:
Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people
SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Be responsible for the identification, assessment, documentation and referral (to relevant services) and follow-up of at-risk children who are who are not registered (birth registration).
- Provide information and arrange social/legal counselling for caregivers on cases related to birth registration.
- Provide information and advise the beneficiaries on existing social services and how to access them.
- Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks to refugee children, children of host-families and returnees and other vulnerable/at-risk children.
- Submit reports weekly reports concerning implemented outreach activities and cases.
- Participate in weekly case management and coordination meetings.
- Maintain files, registers, computer databases and records in paper or electronic format.
- Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that a proper management of the case is preserved.
- Work across different contexts, including local communities, informal settlements, community spaces etc. with a particular focus on outreach work and support in identification, referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy).
- Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of child protection and child safeguarding at all times, including respect for confidentiality and always acting in the best interests of the child.
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practices with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Social Work (desirable), or degree in social sciences or development.
- Experience in working with at-risk children and families, experience in case management in the emergency response (desirable).
- Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.
- Experience in project and team management (desirable).
- Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and either English (desirable) or French.
- Ability to write weekly and monthly reports, develop schedules and collect data
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours in the event of major emergencies.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
