CSSD Technician

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Main purpose:

Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packing, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies according to Lebanese and MSF policies & procedures and protocols in order to ensure an efficient quality of care and safe environment.

Accountabilities:

• Knowing and strictly applying all specific sterilization and hygiene protocols and security rules. Proactively seeking advice and clarifications from the functional supervisor in case of doubt, about the specific protocols or procedure to follow in each specific case
• Decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, packing, sealing, labeling and sterilizing instruments and medical supplies
• Assembling, wrapping, labeling and sterilizing sets and trays of instruments
• Documenting sterilization activities and updating the sterilization register
• Ensuring equipment in assigned areas is maintained in good operating condition and recommending repairs as needed
• Maintaining consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and CSSD
• Monitoring biological indicators and chemical solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment
• Reporting any repair or maintenance work needed related to sterilization to the supervisor, as well as any relevant information related to his/her responsibilities
• Collecting data related to CSSD activities
• Organizing the stock of materials and ensuring its continuous supply
• Attending in-service trainings and regular staff meetings
• Maintaining a safe clean environment and adhering to infection control principles

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Secondary education

Experience                                                                                        

• Previous experience in relevant positions desirable

Languages

• Reading, speaking and writing Arabic
• Ability to speak and write English would be an Asset.   

Knowledge                                          

• Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in timely manner.
• Ability to work independently, to be attentive to detail and maintain positive attitude

Competencies

• Maintain effective communication
