PSS expert

An important component of the Higher Education for Syrians (HES) programme are the additional support services we offer to our students. Due to their background and often more challenging living situations our students struggle with added pressures and a higher need for psycho-social support (PSS). To address these needs access to psycho-social support is one of the main pillars of the student services part of the programme. Since the majority of our partner organizations (Higher Education Institutes – HEIs) often already have services and support structures in place we aim to build on existing services and to reinforce their capacity (where necessary) in this area.  

Purpose assignment

To create and implement part of the PSS activities in 2018 SPARK is looking for a PSS expert who can deliver the following activities:

• Two trainings, 3 days each training (1 Beirut, 1 Bekaa,) on PSS awareness, identification and referral, the trainings will be provided for student counsellors and student services focal points from all Higher Education Institutes (HEI) partners in Lebanon, alongside relevant SPARK staff;
• Two PSS awareness workshops (1 Beirut, 1 Bekaa) for SPARK scholarships;
• Develop a PSS referral system for SPARK staff.

Outcomes

The main outcomes will be:

1. PSS referral system;
2. Enhanced capacity of relevant HEI and SPARK staff in regards to PSS awareness and identification;
3. Enhanced PSS awareness among SPARK students;
4. Report on training outcomes including lessons learned and recommendations.

Time Frame

The activities will take place in August and September, the total number of days envisioned for the assignment are 16 working days:

• 3 days preparation Training 1 and 2;
• 6 days training;
• 1 days preparation workshops;
• 2 days workshops
• 4 days development referral tool and reporting.
