SIF has been present in Lebanon since 2012, implementing projects aiming at providing assistance to the Syrian refugee populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon as well as Vulnerable Lebanese host community. Through child protection projects, basic assistance and food security, SIF contributes to the improvement of the well-being of the children and their families.
In response to the current crisis in Syria, SIF extended its humanitarian response with social stability workshops aiming to engage Youth and women through activities that encourage peace, intercultural dialogue and respect for diversity in a safe environment where they feel comfortable and learn new interesting things about life and themselves.
In view of the operation scale up, SIF is currently recruiting a Short Term Social Stability provider in recycling to provide workshops in Chouf, and Beirut districts.
The STSSP will be under the line management of the Social Stability Officer, or his designee.
- MISSION CONTEXT
Support and strengthen protection for children, adolescents and caregivers amongst the Syrian-Crisis affected population as well spread the peace and reconciliation themes and promote social cohesion.
- OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANT MISSION
Specific objectives
- Teach how to recycle at home (setup various recycling bins at home, prepare cardboards for curbside pickup) - Each session is 120 minutes
- Teaching techniques (as examples):
- How to work and what to create with plastic bottles
- How to paint glasses
- Decoupage
- Re use of Aluminum
- Fabrics items
- Strengthen the sense of self efficacy and self-esteem; to acquire cognitive, emotional and specific competences and skills according to the handcraft activities proposed
- Create an environment where beneficiaries develop a sense of belonging, an experience of mutual sharing, and a possibility of building new relationships
- Promote integration through a process of cultural exchange thru the realization of handcraft products
- Encourage people in the community to reuse and recycle items
- Encourage people in the community to buy recycle products
- Educate people about the recycled items
- Taking part of the Exposition fair to show and/or sell the final outcomes
- Create tools to measure the impact of the activities (pre-posttest, focus group discussions)
S/he will provide experiences covering the full range of individual strengths and abilities through activities offering the highest standards possible, irrespective of gender, ethnic background, age or disability.
- Reporting mechanisms
Report directly to the social stability officer to guarantee the smooth operation of the program
S/he will submit the following reports at the end of the training sessions:
- Submit by the end of each month a monthly report regarding the beneficiaries’ attendance
- Submit a monthly progress report.
- Submit at the end of the recycling cycle a report measuring the quality and impact of the workshop
- Liaising regularly with social stability officer
- Qualifications of the provider
Person qualifications
- Relevant experience of at least 5 years in the recycling domain
- Relevant experience of at least 3 years with national and international NGO.
- Awareness of Human Rights and Refugee International Laws.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills are very important.
- Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing), French an asset.
- Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
- Rigorous, and polite.
- Respect of SIF values and mandate.
