Full-Time In-House Graphic Designer

The American University of Beirut (AUB) - Nature Conservation Center (NCC) is seeking an in-house graphic designer. The candidate will work under the Operations Manager’s supervision and will be required to follow-up on existing projects, as well as contribute to new ones. He/she will have the chance to interact with printing houses, video editing companies, event planning companies, sponsors, and bloggers, among others, when projects require collaborations with them. The graphic designer will also coordinate between the different AUB offices and departments concerned with a certain project, in order to achieve a unified vision, consistent with AUB guidelines.

Required Skills:

Graphic Design Skills

• BA in Graphic Design/ Communication Art/ Advertising and Art Direction, or higher
• Experience in print and online design
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (Premiere is a plus)
• Photography and photo editing skills
• Illustration and animation are a plus
• Video and audio editing skills are a plus

General Skills

• Ability to work on different projects and under pressure, while meeting deadlines, is a must

Tasks:

Graphic Design Tasks

• Determine the creative brief
• Work on publications (books, manuals, brochures, reports, posters, invitations, rollup banners, etc.) for different events and projects, while coordinating with different parties (Editor, Photographer, Movie Editor, Illustrator, etc.)
• When necessary, conduct research in order to present accurate and complete work
• Develop concepts, graphics, and layouts for the Center and its website (posts, logos, etc.)
• Coordinate and maintain good relations with printing houses and design material suppliers
• Communicate with different entities at AUB to stay in line with the AUB image
• Archive all design projects and document them neatly

*No Supervisory role.

Reports to Director of the Center, Operations Manager, and Project Coordinators.
