Community Facilitator

Aim of position:

  • Build and sustain the capacity of local actors to respond to CP/GBV needs of children and youth.
  • Work with community organizations  to increase awareness of and sensitivity to key Child Protection concepts.
  • Support community organizations to ensure they engage all parts of the community including vulnerable populations such as youth.
  • Facilitate the interventions of child protection networks and assist them to set clear plans and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with child protection networks and community organizations, and enhance relationships with referral sources and community leaders.
  • Promote outreach programs, support the organization of community awareness and support the organization of local events held by community
  • Facilitate and monitor the implementation of planned activities and community level engagements.
  •  Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings and workshops
  • implementation and evaluation of community development initiatives.
  • Facilitate youth meetings
  • Coach partners in identifying youth groups
  • Support  peer education within their community
  • Provide clear information, feedback and support to the Team Leader, raising issues as needed and working together to promote a strong team. 
  • Ensure clear positive communication with all members of the team and the organisation
  • Respect budget information that is given and work to reduce costs and improve the quality of purchases related to this role.
  • Maintain an organized style of work, making suggestions to the Team Leader concerning improvements that could be made to the parts of work are the Community Facilitator’s responsibility.
  • Keep accurate and up to date information concerning reporting requirements as directed by the team leader, assisting with reporting obligations when needed.
  • Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories on monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Planning, attending and coordinating meetings and events
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to ideas, interests and concerns of others
  • Work as a team member, be a good listener, well organized, pay attention to details, and meets deadlines.

  • Time Management – control events so that deadlines are met
  • Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy;
  • Facilitate the effective operation of community organisations, maximising their abilty to provide benefits to children and their families.
  • Mobilize and facilitate active participation of children and their communities to participate in planning, monitoring and 
  • Facilitate strategies to assure  participaltion  children and youth with disabilities
  • Work with community based youth groups to enhance their capacity to identify risks and provide information within their communities about CP/SGBV services.
  • Ensure that all relevant information is contained within beneficiaries’ files, respecting principles of confidentiality and dignity
  • Refer important information  to other actors in the CP/GBV network.
  • Contribute to emergency 
  • Respond to donor visits and promote the best practices
  • Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.
