Social Stability Officer

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

 

  • Define, with field officers and the PM, the activities related to the social stability component of the project; The activities will be implemented in Beirut and Chouf (Bekaata and Barja);
  • Plan and schedule, with the support of the PM and the partnership development officer, the activities defined, to meet project deliverables based on timeline. The implementation will be through trainers, coaches, teachers;
  • Monitor the activities : Sport for Development, Languages,  workshops (recycling, photography, capoeira, etc);
  • Check and ensure that the teachers / trainers are present and that the activities are going as planned;
  • ensure that all beneficiaries are registrated for the activity;
  • Ensure that all beneficiaries participate in the activities that are non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate;
  • Ensure that the children feel safe, comfortable and respected;
  • Ensure that the activities are done in a clean and hazard free location;
  • Ensure that the material appropriately used and later stored in a safe way at the end of the day;
  • Get the attendance sheets after each activities and analyze them;
  • Ensure that evaluation methods are used (focus groups discussions, pre and post test, etc) and organize focus groups if necessary;
  • Interfere to resolve points/ matters that could happen through the activities to ensure smooth and effective implementation;
  • Identify children at risk of harm or being harmed and refer them as per the procedure to the organization’s focal point;
  • Report any accident to the line manager;

 

  • Handle all the administrative, financial and logistical aspect of activities implementation, in relation with the administrative and financial department (for example, payment of the providers, planning of bus driver);
  • Analyse the need for support for SIF volunteers;
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts to document project outputs, outcomes and impact;
  • Support the project manager in conducting any kind of assessments and update implementation plan accordingly;
  • Participate in team planning, coordination meetings and trainings;
  • Actively participate in trainings delivered by the organization;
  • Respect and abide to the organization’s internal code of conduct and child protection policy including trainers and any other staff interfering in sessions;
  • Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms;
  • Follow SIF procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to its staff, volunteers and beneficiaries;
  • To maintain the confidential information of SIF (all documents related to beneficiaries in a safe space).

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure a good communication – coordination – information level of each member of the team through regular coordination meetings (or other if needed);
  • Ensure a good communication coordination with the different trainers or teachers involved in the project
  • Manage and support the Sport of Development coaches, making sure the objectives are reached with the above specification;
  • Ensure conflict resolution (personal and professional) within the team and inform the Program manager;
  • If working with SIF volunteers, define with the PM their job description and monitor their tasks. Make sure they understand the objectives of the activities and SIF code of conduct and child protection policy.

REPORTING

Reports directly to SIF’s Beirut Office, to the Program Manager. S/he will submit the following reports :

  • Submit a weekly report on activities and objective of the sessions as well as materials used and needed;
  • Submit to SIF, by the end of each month, a monthly report regarding the beneficiaries’ attendance and coach’s attendance. This report should include the number of beneficiaries disaggregated with breakdown per age group, gender and nationality. It should also include charts, trend analysis and solution taken for any challenge encountered.

At the operational level, the social stability officer will:

  • Report to the line manager any matter regarding attendance of children, of trainers / teacher and coaches;
  • Report to line manager as soon as possible all matters that could occurred, asking assistance for problems are not resolved;

  • Openness to working with refugees as well as with Lebanese beneficiaries.
  • Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
  • Respect and promote SIF’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of SIF’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way.
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
  • Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers.
  • Always respect a refusal of treatment.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

 

PERSON QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications, experience and competencies:

  • University degree in a social development related field (Sports, education, psychology, specialized education or social animation).
  • Relevant experience of at least 3 years with national and international NGO.
  • Awareness of Human Rights and Refugee International Laws and psychosocial guidelines
  • Demonstrated leadership, Results Based Management, including monitoring and reporting, linking program and budget, as well as database management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and work planning skills and the ability to work in a high volume work environment.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills are very important.
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing), French an asset.
  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Rigorous, and polite.
  • Respect of SIF values and mandate.
