Social Worker (OSP)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Promote and facilitate the achievement of the action planning outputs and activities.
2. Assess the needs and priorities of the orphans’ beneficiaries in the project in coordination with the Project Officer and Team Leader. 
3. Assist the Project Officer in the preparation and arrangements of any activity related to assessment and field implementation.
4. Collect and enter orphans’ data from field using data collection system.
5. Participate in the field work and respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information.
6. Refer eligible cases to the services provided within the project as required.
7. Ensure quality and accuracy of data collected on the field with continuous follow up.
8. Ensure good practice and support of procedures of Orphan Sponsorship Policy and Child Protection Policy in the targeted area.

9. Submit daily updates, weekly and monthly reports to the Officer on the targets achieved and the progress of the project activities.
10. Ensure data are well organized and filed both soft and hard copies.
11. Perform any other task as assigned by the Project Officer or Project Coordinator.

Child Protection Policy:

1. Commit to respect the Islamic Relief Child Protection Policy
2. Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Child Protection Policy
3. Commit to respond to any child abuse concerns following the procedures and guidelines on dealing with child’s allegation or suspicion of abuse.

Person Specifications                                                                                                                                   

Experience / Education/Skills- Essential              

• A bachelor degree of Social Work (or any other related field) from an accredited University.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relative experience in a similar position, preferred- with NGOs/ INGOs.
• Experience in working with children, solid knowledge in child protection field

Ability To

• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Read, comprehend and interpret written materials of moderate to complex difficulty.
• Records management systems (both automated and paper files) to ensure accurate maintenance of files and ease of retrieval.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Language                                                                            

• Fluency in English & Arabic (written and spoken).

IT skills                                                                                

• Proficiency in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting.

General Skills                                                   

• V. Good technical reporting skills.
• Strong planning, communications and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
• Diplomacy, tact & negotiation skills.
