Senior Community Mobilizer (National Contract)

In the framework of the recently started project SWaM Akkar. Supporting Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Jurd al-Kaytee, Akkar cofinanced by the EU, COOPI is looking for a Senior Community mobilizer to coordinate and ensure participation of all beneficiaries in the proposed project activities. 

Main areas of responsibility (in coordination with COOPI Project Manager):

 

  • Supporting COOPI in the achievement of the Expected Results of SWaM Akkar. Supporting Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Jurd al-Kaytee, Akkar;
  • Contact to and co-operation with relevant local authorities and project partners;

Specific duties:

More specifically, he/she will

 Actively participate in all phases of the elaboration of the participative Waste Management Master Plan for Jurd al-Kaytee area, with particular focus on those that include the local community and stakeholders participation.

  • Liaise with local authorities, partners, community and COOPI involved staff to guarantee the smooth operation of the activities
  • Conduct frequent field visits to all project sites to ensure that community is involved as per project strategy
  • Assist partners in the organization and implementation of “don’t WASTE your WASTE” awareness campaign
  • Assist in the organization and participate in all Steering Committee and Working Group meetings
  • Support informal sector operators’ in the process of formalization in order to be able to provide waste-related services and value-chain support
  • Inform the community on the date and venue of the awareness raising sessions in the project area.
  • Coordinate with the trainers the development of each session.
  • Work directly in the field with children, families, teachers and other stakeholders of the activity locations.
  • Provide correct information to the beneficiaries on the scope and strategy of the project
  • Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities highlighting best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Ensure that data is accurately collected on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Attend meetings with the Project Manager and the whole COOPI staff.
  • Capture success stories and lessons learned in each phase of program implementation.
  • Follow up on all logistics needed for the identified tasks.
  • Perform any  other tasks  as requested by the Project Manager
  • Ensure that any matter that requires attention is reported for direct action

Qualifications and skills:

  • At least five years of experience in in public relation, community mobilization, networking
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organization at field level.
  • Sound Understanding of participatory approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Valid Driving License and ability to drive both automatic/manual cars.
  • Time flexibility.
  • Previous experience in working with national/international NGOs is an advantage. Sound knowledge of COOPI mission, aprroach and operation is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the intervention area is highly desirable

  • Willingness to spend the majority of the working time in the project intervention area, Akkar.

The commencement date will be immediately after selection. The duty station is Hrar, Akkar with frequent visits to Batroun and Beirut.

Accomodation in Akkar is provided by COOPI in the project guesthouse based in Harar.
