Job Responsibilities
- Lead technical assessments at field level in coordination with Najdeh’s Engineer ensuring assessment findings are documented
- Prepare and oversee project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against log frames, individual performance management work plans)
- Define the criteria of shelters’ selection and selection of shelters in collaboration with Association Najdeh
- Develop proper BoQs and selection of suppliers in close collaboration with Najdeh’s Engineer
- With support from the Najdeh’s Engineer, identify programme supplies needs and to put in place a sensible phased procurement plan
- Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter, Red Cross Code of Conduct and Swiss Solidarity standards
General
- Deliver high quality results in line with the terms of reference agreed in advance – to do this in a way which maintains the reputation of the Humanitarian Aid Unit.
- Comply with HEKS/EPER policies, code of conduct, and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Help be responsible for the security of all staff. Ensure that the security, health and well-being of staff are ensured.
- To perform such other responsibilities as agreed with your line management.
Our ideal candidate
- Significant experience of working overseas in humanitarian programs with I/NGOs
- Qualification to suitable level (BA or equiv.) in Architecture, Planning, Civil or Structural engineering, construction, or another relevant subject or equivalent field experience
- Awareness of transitional shelter and settlements options including technical design, host family support, collective centres and camps
- Previous experience of managing a team
- Previous experience of project management
- Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
- Experience of training and capacity building staff
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
- Excellent communication skills
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
- A high level of written and spoken Arabic and English
