Assignment

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Graphic Designer / Illustrator is responsible for the development of designed reports for 10 different areas / municipalities in Lebanon under the Ta’cir Project. Specifically, the Graphic Designer / Illustrator will create visual concept and develop an overall layout and production design for “Municipal Overview and Sector Priorities” reports including graphs, photos, illustrations, maps, text, etc.   

Background

ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon.

Starting February 2017, ACTED was awarded a grant by the European Union for the implementation of the project entitled “Ta’cir - Towards an active participation of civil society in the reform process”. The project duration is 36 months - from 1 February 2017 to 30 January 2020, and will be implemented with 50 CSOs and 50 Local Authorities in Akkar, Tripoli (North), Tyre, Saida, Nabatieh (South), Beirut, Baabda and Metn (Mount Lebanon) in Lebanon. As part of the EU Country Roadmap for Engagement with Civil Society and in partnership with Lebanon Support, Akkarouna and SHEILD, this project aims at strengthening the role and contribution of civil society in Lebanon at both policy and local development levels.

As part of their activities, support to municipalities for developing/ implementing/ monitoring of local action plans related to the targeted sectors, ACTED and partners developed “Municipal Overview and Sector Priorities” for 50 villages related to village profile, demographics, population, different sectors status problems and solutions.

Functions

The Graphic Designer / Illustrator shall be responsible for:

• Create visual concept and develop an overall layout and production design for “Municipal Overview and Sector Priorities” reports including graphs, photos, illustrations, maps, text, etc.
• Replicate the same design after getting approval from project manager for 10 different villages.
• Integrate information collected including village profile, demographics, sectors overview, problems and suggested priorities.
• Integrate maps and photos to all designed reports.
• Collect feedback on the first draft
• Finalize all 10 municipal overview and sector priorities designs after incorporating feedback.    

Deliverables & Timeline

• 10 designed documents (replicated with different information for 10 different villages) in a period of 10-15 days

Knowledge, skills

• University degree in a relevant subject, such as graphic designer, illustrator;
• Fresh to one year experience in a similar position;
• Fluent in Arabic and English writing; and in specific in design programs.
