Child Protection Consultant and Trainer for School Bus Operators

World Learning is looking to contract a consultant/trainer for the development and delivery of a 1-day training module on Child Protection for school bus drivers and supervisors, to guide and support the implementation of a transportation solution in 100 Lebanese public schools.

Project Overview

QITABI is a five year, $46.3 million project that will improve both access to education and learning outcomes in primary schools, in addition to supporting institutional effectiveness across MEHE (Ministry of Education and Higher Education) in Lebanon. QITABI aims to improve outcomes in reading at the primary level, under the assumption that increased literacy directly correlates to increased academic and professional achievement. Improved facilities, services, and teaching – along with more effectively engaged communities and school councils – will not only improve learning outcomes, but also increase the chances of youth remaining in the formal education system. The project has three components:

  • Component 1: Improving reading outcomes for primary level public school students
  • Component 2: Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students
  • Component 3: Strengthening management (resilience) in the education system to better direct and monitor education

The Assignment

Under Component 2 “Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students” and specifically in Element 4 “Addressing barriers to schooling for vulnerable students such as costs, transportation, safety, etc.” and Element 5 “Strengthening school-based monitoring and management including financing school grants,” the project aims to provide up to 100 buses to public schools in Lebanon and to support school administration and bus operators to sustain efficient performance whilst maintaining a safe environment for children. The implementation of this model requires the development and delivery of training modules for school administrators and bus drivers and supervisors on more than one track, including bus operation and maintenance, reporting mechanisms, and child protection codes and conduct directives.

This position will be responsible for the development and delivery of a 1-day training module in Arabic on Child Protection for school bus drivers and supervisors, in collaboration and coordination with QITABI team.

The training will be conducted in 4-6 regional cohorts, each 1-day long, during the month of September 2018.
