- MISSION CONTEXT
Support and strengthen protection for children, adolescents and caregivers amongst the Syrian-Crisis affected population as well spread the peace and reconciliation themes and promote social cohesion.
- OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANT MISSION
General Objective
The general objective of the consultancy is to train around 20 Youth in Beirut and/or Chouf area on Puppetry in order to come up with a puppet show that aims to enhance social cohesion.
Specific objectives
- Offer learning experiences of the highest standards possible, irrespective of gender, ethnic background, age or disability
- Provide experiences covering the full range of individual strengths and abilities
- Produce with the youth a puppet show with a theme related to social cohesion.
- Enhance communication and conflict resolution skills through puppetry.
- Encourage youth to come up with ideas and scenarios.
- Teach youth puppet making techniques.
- Produce with youth the needed puppets for the show.
- Empower youth and motivate them to take part in the puppet show.
- Strengthen the sense of self efficacy and self-esteem; to acquire cognitive, emotional and specific competences and skills.
- Create an environment where beneficiaries develop a sense of belonging, an experience of mutual sharing, and a possibility of building new relationships.
- Taking part of the final performance show that will take place by the end of the training.
- Create tools to measure the impact of the play (pre-post test, focus group discussions)
- Each session should not exceed 120 minutes
- Liaising regularly with social stability officer to guarantee the smooth operation of the program
- The program’s duration is 12 weeks, with a maximum of two sessions per week.
- Reporting mechanisms
Report directly to the SIF Social Stability officer. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of the training sessions:
- Register attendance on a daily basis
- Progress report of the workshop after each session
At the end of the sessions, a report measuring the quality and impact of the workshop should be submitted.
- Qualifications of the consultant
Personal qualifications
- Relevant experience of at least 1 year with national and international NGO.
- Awareness of Human Rights and Refugee International Laws.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills are very important.
- Excellent command of Arabic language (speaking and writing), English is a plus.
- Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
- Rigorous, and polite.
- Respect of SIF values and mandate.
