Academic Officer (Pedagogical Coordinator)

The Pedagogical Coordinator is in charge of coordinating and supporting the teaching & learning processes to integrate “We Class” in the Learning Support Programme at the JRS Frans Van Der Lugt (FVDL) Center.
The Pedagogical Coordinator will report to the Principal and the Project Director of the JRS FVDL Center, and will work under their direct supervision.
I. Pedagogical responsibilities

  • Conduct Face-to-Face meetings with tutors to support them in designing lessons plans, and propose innovative tutoring methods according to the curriculum and the capabilities of the platform.
  • Plan and review the working calendar to monitor how the tutors are using the content and the equipment and to guarantee their use.
  • Suggest initiatives to engage tutors in improving the use of the platform.
  • Coordinate with the Principal to put in place problem-solving mechanisms: unmotivated tutors, incorrect usage of the content, ineffective class dynamics, etc.
  • Gather insights about how the platform is used and suggest design improvements.
  • Ensure prompt execution of other tasks which are within the ambit of the position (Pedagogical Coordinator) which may be requested by the Project Director as needs occur.

II. Daily technical activities

  • Equipment review, storage, maintenance, and charging.
  • Platform administration to support teachers in 1) platform users’ registration, and 2) classes and content setting.
  • Support internet connectivity to teachers’ laptops to send data and receive updates, using the existing network connectivity or USB cellular connections. 

III. Training

  • Coordinate with JRS Principal and Education Officers the design and implementation of the Tutor Training programme, and provide initial trainings for new tutors joining the program.
  • Based on the results of the platform, implement additional coaching and training to tutors on specific functionalities.

IV. Profile

  • Pedagogical Skills: Learning and tutoring methodologies, education system, syllabus, etc.
  • Technical Skills: Computer competent, including the use of email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Project Management Skills: Planning and reporting.
