SHIFT MENTORING PROGRAM:

The SHIFT Mentoring Program aims to build the capacity of the potential mentors to enable them to contribute in the future to the support of both startups and NMSMEs.

The program will work upon the following principles:

─    Inclusiveness: Targeting a wide representation of the community will be at the core of this project. Assuring the participation of the different factions of the society with representation of both men and women will ensure the success of this project.

─    Transparency: Sharing details and information with participants throughout the different phases will remove doubts, ensure engagement, and trust.

─    Experiential:  Learning during the process will be key. This will be assured by following an experiential learning during which participants not only learn the tools and techniques of setting up for nano-micro enterprises and Start-ups, but will also get to put these tools in practice, receive feedback, and exchange experiences.

The following are underlying principles of mentorship:
─    Uniqueness and trust in the mentoring relationship;
─    Focus on pairing an experienced person with someone with less experience;
─    Acquisition of knowledge as part of the learning process;
─    Reciprocity yet asymmetry, dedicated to helping the mentee reach their goals (professional and personal);
─    Dynamic and adaptive with regard to time and need

A mentor is a person who…
─    identifies mentee development needs
