PROJECT MANAGER (RADIO MANAGEMENT), IRAQ

IWPR is accepting applications for professionals with significant media development and media industry experience especially radio management to join its talent pool. This role is expected to start on November 1st, 2018 and end September, 2019 (11 months).

The role:

Implements and oversees all aspects of the project based on supporting radio partners in several Iraqi provinces. Designs mechanisms for the implementation of all activities, including staff management, budgeting, training, campaigns, and sub-awards. Ensures M&E indicators and program deliverables are met and that all programmatic and financial reporting is completed on time and accurately. Manages the work of assigned staff. Works with international and Iraqi partners to execute the project plans. Oversees programmatic and/or field teams. Works with editorial staff, field staff and the support staff to develop a comprehensive commissioning brief and deliver a stream of specific social media content in line with project work plans and other deliverables.

You will have:

  • In-depth knowledge of programmatic, compliance and reporting requirements for host country and donor (USG);
  • In-depth knowledge of radio industry and management;
  • Proven successful project management abilities including staff manager, meeting deliverables, budget oversight, M&E;
  • Proven video and social media production background;
  • Strong conceptual and analytical ability, and adaptive, flexible capacity. Ability to analyze and distill complex narrative and financial information;
  • Deep familiarity working with media including social media and using social media as a campaign tool, editing and reporting in print or online journalism, content and copyediting;
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both inside and outside the company on issues that could be complex or sensitive in nature. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to negotiate and work with government and non-government officials, staff, contractors, and beneficiaries. Ability to manage conflict and conflicting views;
  • Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner in both Arabic and English;
  • Ability to speak both Arabic and English fluently;
  • Ability to travel in country;
  • Energetic, forward-thinking, creative individual with intellectual depth and high ethical standards;
  • Advanced proficiency in computers, software, spreadsheet, and financial management packages;
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams with diverse backgrounds working in multiple locations and countries to achieve and sustain excellence;
  • Proof of legal ability to work in Iraq.

The successful candidate shall possess:

An undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study;

A minimum of five years of progressively greater responsibility in successfully implementing and managing journalism, communication, editorial, or women’s rights programs and staff in complex international environments, including experience working with foreign donors (preferably USG). Prior experience in the region and in conflict mitigation communication preferred;

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
