Job Purpose:
The senior social worker is responsible of planning and implementing skill-building and empowerment activities for targeted beneficiaries in assigned areas.
Generic Duties:
- The Senior SW is responsible for the design and implementation of structured recreational and PSS activities for vulnerable children, youth, women at risk and men run in INTERSOS Centers or outreach, in collaboration with the field support protection person.
- Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the center;
- Act according to the CPiE Minimum standards.
- Assess the needs of the targeted beneficiaries and ensure engagement of the beneficiaries in the design of and support to the implementation activities;
- Plan, elaborate and design the activities for all beneficiaries (informal skill training, awareness, focus group discussion, social recreational, life skills, community day and informal education activities) in collaboration with line manager and accordingly to INTERSOS guidelines
- Works directly with all beneficiaries in INTERSOS Centers, conducting activities with them, involving parents and community members when appropriate;
- Refer to the case workers any vulnerable cases of CP and SGBV identified or referred by a team member;
- Informs the supervisor about any difficulty met in INTERSOS activities implementation;
- Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centers and/or in Intersos Beirut office when requested;
- Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the PM.
Specific Duties:
(Can be adapted to the particularities of the job location and the requirement of the project. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired).
- Act according to the guiding principles of GBV and Child Protection case management including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do not harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the beneficiary, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest;
- Ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced;
- Provide direct support and care for vulnerable case with protection concerns (including survivors of gender-based violence), including psychosocial support and case management.
- Organize outreach activities and/or special events.
- Monitor the daily activities (awareness, recreational, psychosocial and educational..) within the center or outside, conducted by the social workers;
- In collaboration with the Protection field support person ensure that the management committees and community groups are running and involved in the center management
- Organize the work of the team members allocating specific responsibilities and task according to the implemented activity;
- Identify any need of training or gaps within the team and refer it to the supervisor;
- Assist solving problems arising in the Child Friendly Spaces if asked by supervisor
- Engage the volunteers in the planned activities held at the assigned center and the Info desk.
- Produce and maintain in an accurate way a daily attendance registers for staff and beneficiaries, monthly inventory sheets and send the inventory sheets for each activity and PSS database;
- Ensure the verification that the supplied Centre material is daily accounted for and secured;
- Recruit, train and monitor the community centers volunteers in the assigned area, also train the committee management members and the Volunteers responsible of the community services related activities;
- Provide necessary information to the Protection field support person and collaborate in order to ensure that the centers are running smoothly in terms of logistics and admin.
Reporting:
- Provide basic information about project activities and report on a weekly and monthly basis to the Data Entry/Team leader, Protection Officer and Project Manager;
