POSITION GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The Gender Advisor is responsible for supporting the development of a Gender and Protection Action Plan at AAH Lebanon and ensuring roll-out across all relevant departments at coordination and base level.
The Gender Advisor will also coordinate with the DCD, the MEAL Coordinator and the Protection Coordinator for the review of the Accountability Framework and support the integration of participatory approaches across the mission activities.
POSITION SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS.
Objective 1 : To support the Protection Coordinator in developing a Gender and Protection Action Plan for AAH Lebanon (40%)
Tasks
Review existing AAH Gender and Protection policies, assess the level of implementation at mission level, identify gaps and areas of improvement
Identify clear priorities to be addressed in order to ensure Gender and Protection integration and mainstreaming is effective
With the support of the Protection Coordinator, link with AAH Protection focal points at regional level (MERO) to work on standardized and harmonized tools for Gender and Protection integration and mainstreaming in the mission
Develop a Gender and Protection Action Plan with clear objectives, deliverables and timeframe
Objective 2 : To mainstream Gender and Protection across the mission departments (40%
Tasks
Work with different technical departments (MEAL, WASH, FSL, Advocacy) to ensure gender minimum standards and protection principles are incorporated in the activities
With the support of the Protection Coordinator, develop a Gender and Protection checklist to guide programme design and implementation
Train base and front-line field staff on Gender and Protection issues, including respect of minimum standards for identification and referral of protection cases
Liaise with external partners working on Gender and Protection for possible collaboration
Collaborate with Programme and MEAL staff on the adoption of participatory and inclusive approaches throughout the different phases of the project cycle
Objective 3 : Monitor and evaluate AAH Lebanon progress towards integrating Gender and Protection across departments and programmes….. (20%)
Tasks
Based on the objectives set out in the Gender and Protection Action Plan, develop tools to monitor the integration of Gender and Protection across all programmes
Produce an update progress report on the implementation of the Action Plan and establish clear recommendation for improvement
Support the review of AAH alignment with the Core Humanitarian Standard
Objective 4 : Security
Tasks
Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.
Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan
Objective 5 : Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger
Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.
Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.
Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Training/ Education:
Bachelor Degree in social science or any other related field. Gender trainings
Technical specific knowledge:
Policy review
Elaboration of training material
Conducting training sessions
Gender and protection mainstreaming
Participatory and inclusivity approaches and community engagement
Reporting
Previous experience:
Work experience of minimum 2 year in a similar position with NGO
Humanitarian sector knowledge:
Mandatory
Action Against the Hunger knowledge:
A plus
Languages:
English (proficient on spoken and written)
Arabic
IT and specific systems:
Able to work with Windows OS
Proficiency on the basic office tools (at least Word and Excel)
Knowledge on databases and mobile data collection systems (ODK, GRASP) would be desirable.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:

Formal work contract: 6 months
Salary: from 2333 USD to 2473 USD gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain). Action Against Hunger - Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
