Protection Consultant

Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international NGO working in Lebanon in Education and MHPSS, looking for a Protection Consultant.

In the framework of the identification process of an approved AECID project (the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation Development), EC and JRS are looking for an expert in Protection and/or MHPSS, with the aim of developing a logical and coherent model, integrating protection in all components of this 4-year project and strengthening existing procedures. S/he will be hired for a two-month consultation in order to prepare the logical framework and baseline study.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

The Protection Consultant will provide technical expertise to support the development/design of a logical model to EC/JRS project. S/he will work on strengthening the Protection component of JRS Education and MHPSS programming in the country, by:

• Engaging with JRS field staff to define programme response and identify gaps;
• In collaboration with JRS Regional Office and Entreculturas, provide technical assistance and advice on best practices for Protection interventions;
• Support the establishment of a monitoring system in coordination with JRS Regional and National M&E Officers;
• Ensuring that all project staff have the capacity to deliver the highest standards of protection programming;

Requirements:

• University degree in Law, International Relations, Human Rights or any other relevant related field
• 7-8 years of previous working experience in Protection, including capacity building, monitoring & evaluation and case management
• Strong knowledge of Protection standards
• Ability to provide technical advice and guidance in a field environment
• Experience in facilitating trainings
• Knowledge of the Syrian crisis response & Experience in the Middle East highly recommended
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong cultural sensitivity & flexibility
• Excellent English, with Arabic an asset
