Communication Officer (National Contract)

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa and Akkar, financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Communication Officer to support activities in Beirut with frequent travel to Bekaa and Akkar.  

Position Title:                   Communication Officer

Reporting to:                    Line Manager; Country Representative

Duty station:                    GVC Office in Beirut with frequent travel to Bekaa and Akkar

 

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

 

  • Development and delivery of the Mission Communication Plan, including designing and updating calendar of public communication events;
  • Contribute and monitor on GVC’s brand and style guidelines, and key messages in project communication;
  • Support in producing multimedia communication contents, including but not limited to: website content (i.e. images, videos, project fact-sheets, beneficiary stories/interviews, project progress reports, and info-graphics); Social media content, divulgation of material, etc;
  • The Communication Officer will be responsible for regularly posting projects updates (i.e. news articles, activity/beneficiary photographs, beneficiary stories/quotes and projects success stories) on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and managing user’s comments and interactions with posts;
  • Direct Mailing Campaigns Content, The Communication Officer will be responsible for designing and providing content for direct mailing campaigns when needed. This may include designing brochures/leaflets, postcards etc;
  • Public Event content (i.e presentations, fact-sheets, projects brochures/leaflets and photobooks).
  • The Communication Officer will support field staff in setting up and running public events;
  • Filmed Content:  identify inspiring beneficiary stories and produce filmed case studies in collaboration with technical specialists;
  • Develop a body of project communication material: photo library, project fact-sheets, leaflets, infographic etc;
  • Support the Media and PR activities, contact researchers, journalists and news outlets to attend projects events, visit projects sites and to cover projects activities in their respective publications;
  • Coordinate and guide Communication Staff present in the mission;
  • Dealing with direct communication with donors and funders of the organization;
  • Produce articles and Press Releases when needed;
  • Contribute to reporting and monitoring with communication materials when needed;
  • Any other duty required by the line manager related to communication, if needed;

QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENTS

 

Educational Background: Degree in Communication/Journalism/Political Sciences. Master Degree in the same subjects

Languages: Arabic; English; Italian it’s a plus

Driving license: yes

Personal qualities & soft skills: Determined, assertive, laborious and well organised
