The main objective of the Hygiene Promotion is the reduction of WASH related disease transmission in all the refugee’s informal settlements in the Bekaa Valley.
Participate in hygiene campaign, participate in house to house HP, prepare written material for the field, elaborate clear and adapted message for beneficiaries. Distribution of hygiene items. Able to prepare Hygiene Promotion Plans. Support in all other wash activities implemented by ACF.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Objective 1 : Elaboration of hygiene promotion material (40%)
- Identify the most appropriate message regarding the target population
- Write clearly and understandable message.
- Evaluate the necessary material needed for a campaign/activity.
- Identify problems and provide sustainable changes of WASH Knowledge, Aptitudes and Practices to the local communities
Objective 2 : House to house visit and hygiene campaign (40 %)
- Mobilise the community to change behaviour regarding hygiene practice. Creation and follow up WASH Committees and their performance in the Informal Settlements.
- Convince all household of the importance of good hygiene practice.
- Ensure the work is properly done and the material use wisely.
- Participate in hygiene campaign, doing shows in schools and at community level.
- Animate focus group, giving clear message on good hygiene practice.
Objective 3 : Reporting (10 %)
- Report the progress of the work to the supervisor.
- Report possible problem or conflict during the activities.
- Report the use of materials and possible improvement.
- Data collection regarding the project and the potentials beneficiaries.
- Regular reporting to Hygiene Promotion Supervisor
Objective 4 : Other water and sanitation activities (5 %)
- Conduct household assessment.
- Distribution of water and sanitation items.
- Support other WASH related activities.
Objective 5 : Security
- Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.
- Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan
Objective 6 : Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger
- Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.
- Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.
- Support in the implementation of the Gender & Protection action plan
QUALIFICATIONS
Training/ Education:
- Bachelor of public health, education, social sciences or related fields.
Technical specific knowledge:
- Strong communication skills, used to speak in public and work dynamically with adults and children.
Previous experience:
- Experience in hygiene promotion, experience in Aarsal, work with local communities, children and vulnerable people, experience in community mobilization and participation
Humanitarian sector knowledge:
- Experience in the humanitarian sector in a similar position
Action Against the Hunger knowledge:
- Not compulsory
Languages:
- Fluent Arabic, Very good English level (written, reading and writing).
IT and specific systems:
- Windows domain, Compulsory expertise in Excel.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:
We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:
- Salary: from 1257 USD to 1566 USD gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain). Action Against Hunger - Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
- LBP 8,000 daily transportation allowance on working days
