Accountant – Partnership Program

OBJECTIVES

 

 

Objective 1: To ensure the appropriate recording in the accountancy of all transactions related to the Partnership program in Syria

Tasks:

  • Record all transactions in the books according to Donor regulation and AAH Spain standard analytical accounting rules.

  • Ensure accuracy and veracity of the information registered.

  • Import in Agresso (accounting tool) all the consortium movements related to Partners and coordination hub and ensure that all entries are properly registered, validated and matched (when required).

  • Carry out cash reconciliation and bank reconciliation and report any discrepancies to the Senior Finance Coordinator.

  • Meet monthly deadlines for closing accountancy: M+5 days.

  • Ensure compliance with the laws and governing requirements, special focus on compliance with tax and labour laws.

 

Objective 2: To ensure the appropriate management of the archiving of admin documentation

Tasks:

  • Make sure the quality of financial documentation to be achieved, by checking invoices, receipts and prove of payments and by codifying documents according to AAH Spain analytical accounting rules.

  • Responsible for the proper archiving of all the documents related to the records registered in order to meet with AAH Archiving Policy (tracking, archiving, storage, back up)

  • Support in the preparation and follow up of internal and external audits.

 

 

Objective 3: Communication and Reporting 

Tasks:

  • Ensure smooth and efficient communication with partners and other departments at the Partnership coordination and mission level.

  • Report to Senior Finance Coordinator and coordination with HQ accountant and Syria Mission accountant team on a regular basis.

 

Objective 4: Security

Tasks:

  • Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan.

  • Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan.

  • Keep the confidentiality and security of all AAH records and information gathered in the course of employment with AAH

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Training:  University degree in Accounting, Bachelor level degree in management, finance, or related field;

Technical specific knowledge: Accounting

Previous experience (years): 5 years minimum experience working as accountant

Humanitarian sector knowledge: Desirable.

Experience with projects funded by major American/European Donors desirable.

Organization knowledge:  Good communication skills, organized and methodical, proactive-demonstrates the ability to foresee problems and prevent them by taking action

Languages:  Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English

IT systems: Good knowledge of accounting tools (Agresso or similar); Good Knowledge of windows office package, Advanced user of excel.

Mobility (national/ international):  Travels to Syria or Spain might be required occasionally.
