Program Coordinator
UNHCR’s tertiary education scholarship programme DAFI (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative), supports Syrian refugee students in Lebanon in accessing university studies. The primary objective of the DAFI Programme is to contribute to the promotion of self-reliance of these refugee men and women by providing them with a professional qualification geared towards future gainful employment. The Programme aims to encourage the development of qualified human resources for the future reconstruction of refugees' home countries upon repatriation, thereby supporting greater peace and stability in the region. Higher education contributes to durable solutions and post-conflict reconstruction, promotes social, economic and gender equity and provides hope and empowerment to refugee communities. The Programme, implemented by World Learning Lebanon, will ensure smooth operations of day-to-day activities related to the management of the DAFI Programme, provision of support to students, as well as close coordination with key actors in the education and university
Responsibilities
- Mentor/monitor a portion of DAFI scholarship students. Counseling students on academic, financial, and personal matters;
- Manage a team of three Student Advisors, reporting to the Program Manager, overseeing the implementation of the DAFI scholarship student oversight and support implementation across Lebanon
- Oversee the DAFI Scholarship Program’s university partner relationships
- Assist in the design and implementation of DAFI student recruitment
- With the team develop the training agenda and implementation plans for soft skills and job readiness trainings
- Oversee and help in the design of the community outreach and student community strategies for the program
- Oversee the tracking and monitoring of all students in the program including reporting, communications, site visits, student engagement events, distribution of stipends, procurement of vendors for program implementation
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and Program Manager
- Design and implement program orientations and in-person workshops for students.
- Conduct travel to host universities for site visits and prepare reports for donor on visits.
- Prepare high-quality program reports for funders.
- Oversee the social networking presence of the program
- Assume other program management, execution, and improvement activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in social sciences, economics, management, project management with at least five years of experience in a related context / or a Bachelor’s Degree with additional relevant years of work experience will be considered
- Previous experience working with higher education community and students
- Previous experience working with community organizations
- Proven team leadership skills
- Excellent writing skills.
- Strong cross-cultural and communications skills.
- Energetic and strong team player.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency
- Experience developing programming for college-age students is desired
