Head Of Assessment Unit

Performs the following principal responsibilities:

Manages, oversees and develops the educational assessment process in terms of planning, organization, administration, and processing at school, national, regional and international level including review of progress;

Monitors the impact and implementation of assessment activities in the field and advises staff accordingly for improving assessment practices;

Directs the policy on assessment, ensuring harmonization on standard setting, quality arrangements and common policies between the areas and schools;

Ensures that the work of the Assessment Unit meets the objectives of the overall UNRWA strategic plan;

Develops a comprehensive assessment plan for the field including producing, disseminating and correcting unified exams and other forms of assessment;

Liaises with other units, the Field's ESMC and relevant stakeholders to coordinate work and advise them on matters related to assessment; coordinates with host, and NGOs on assessment related matters;

Manages, oversees and motivates the assessment unit staff together with its resources including the preparation and evaluation of the examination budget, taking into account the best value where possible;

Leads on the dissemination of good practices in assessment in the field schools to improve the teaching learning process and promote quality of education;

Produces an annual report on assessment as well as regular updates when required to facilitate continuous enhancement to the assessment process;

Creates and supervises a systematic database used for monitoring and updating school exam performance data and other forms of assessment;

Ensures a positive assessment culture in the schools across the field to which all staff and students subscribe including solving problems related to examinations and other forms of assessment;

Keeps  an up to date knowledge of assessment processes and systems in order to make the most effective use of various databases to improve students’  achievements at UNRWA schools;

Is responsible for professional development activities and works collegially with peers to improve his/her practices;

Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
