Project Assistant " 10 Positions"

Overall Responsibility

Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting and providing support to the Project Officer in daily planning and implementations of the project. The Project Assistant will be responsible for the Child Protection Network that would facilitate sharing of resources in prevention, response, collaboration with the partners in responding to the orphans’ needs and protection.

Job description:

  1. Support the Project team in mapping and assessing children to attend PSS activities.
  2. Register and enrol children in psychosocial support activities
  3. Work directly with children in a community centre, carrying out psychosocial activities.
  4. Plan, organize and run activities with beneficiaries while facilitate and encourage the participation of all attendees.
  5. Plan, organize and run awareness sessions with youth and caregivers while facilitate and encourage the participation of attendees.
  6. Ensure activities/ sessions run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
  7. Ensure that attendees are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for males and females to work both together and in gender based group.
  8. Deal with difficult behaviours (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behaviour to positively communicate with the situation.
  9. Ensure Children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of Harm or stress during the activities
  10. Support the supervisor in organizing social cohesion events at the end of each Cycle
  11. Liaise with the Supervisor on regular basis regarding the implementation of PSS activities.
  12. Report items needing purchase, repair or replacement and submit list of needs/PSS tools and materials.
  13. Responsible for the proper use and basic maintenance of the PSS material and the facility.
  14. Handle logistics responsibilities when necessary. 
  15. Ensure children’s safety and protection:
  1. Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Child Protection and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity
  2. Identify key protection threats affecting the children and raise them to the CP Focal Point.
  3. Identify safety issues and follow-up with the supervisor on the safety and security of the chosen locations
  4. Inform the Supervisor about any health issues that could arise among children
  5. Identify children requiring case management and ensure safe referral to case management agencies or service providers in coordination with project coordinator.
  1. Handle tracking, reporting on activities and filing:
  1. Collect data on the activities organized and ensure that all the relevant forms are duly filled
  2. Ensure related means of verifications (MOV) including registration sheets, attendance sheets, SDQs, evaluation documents… are in place for each activity in coordination with the Supervisor.
  3. Administer SDQs at the beginning and the end of each cycle
  4. Fill and archive specific forms for referrals and weekly reporting, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
  5. Responsible for data entry of beneficiaries’ details and do segregations, diagrams and charts regarding information  
  1. Other duties:
  1. Attend and participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality PSS and referrals, and reporting requirements are followed
  2. Attend and participate in local and international training and capacity building events as needed
  3. Attend and participate in outdoor events and other organizational events

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • One- two years’ work experience in implementing recreational activities, psychosocial activities with children
  • Capable of dealing with children who have experienced war distress (education in emergency preferable
  • Knowledge on Child Protection and Psychosocial Support Programs
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to create and work as a team.
  • Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children
  • Knowledge of English
