Professionally Trained PSS Facilitator

Aims of position:

  • Develop and implement age- appropriate psychosocial activities for children and/or youth .
  • Strenghtening and improving the resilience and wellbeing of children at risk.
  • Ensure that all beneficiaries participate in the activities that are non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate.
  • Ensure that parents/caregivers get frequent feedback about their child’s participation during the sessions.
  • Work directly with the PSS/technical team , TL and psycologist to develop intervention plans and follow up.
  • Ensure that the children/youth feel safe, comfortable and respected all the time.

The PSS facilitator will be based in South Area, but will support TDHL main office in Hosh. Furthermore, the he/her will be in contact with other TDHL members to harmonize and share tools as well as lessons learnt.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

  • Ensure that all the beneficiaries of the community programmes are received and taken care of.
  • Set up the different activities connected with the community programmes
  • Prepare and implement recreational activities for the target population in line with the project's approach. 
  • Carry out home visits to beneficiaries according to the priorities
  • Plan and identify materials and any kind of support required for every intervention on weekly basis.
  • Ensure that the beneficiaries who need specific medical or nutritional care are referred to the appropriate organisation
  • Ensure the creation of positive atmosphere for the children through encourging them to express their needs and be fully engaged in the activities and ensuring their feeling of safety.
  • Participate in conducting surveys
  • using a range of materials, including modelling clay, plaster, oil paints, watercolours and acrylics
  • Assist in the development of new PSS methodologies or/ and new PSS M&E tools
  • Review and adjust PSS tools to make sure the relevant, accurate and up-to-date information is always presented in accordance to Tdh and the Inter Agency guidelines.
  • Suggest modifications of sessions and exercises in order to adapt to changes occuring in the work environment, based on the feedback of the caregivers and children.
  • Represent Tdh in relevant PSS trainings and in the field visits at sites of intervention with donors and line managers.
  • Support the identification and packaging of PSS advocacy issues
  • Prepare all the necessary for the various activities well in advance, paying attention to details
  • Ensure that the activities are done in a clean ,safe and hazard free location;
  • Collaborate in Ensuring that the material appropriately used and later stored in a safe way at the end of the day.
  • Establish a calendar/agenda for intervention for each group of children/youth concerned.
  • Being able to identify children at risk of harm or being harmed and being able to refer them as per the TDHL procedure to TDHL case workers.
  • Verify the beneficiaries list and presence.
  • Contribute to spread the messages to the community and beneficiaries(be able to orient and support beneficiaries on services available in the mapping of services  and establish positive relationships with beneficiaries).
  • Attend weekly , monthly and urgent meetings with team.
  • Being able to provide a correct use of guidelines, tools, material and games once agreed with technical team.
  • Effective engagement of children with disabilities in the PSS activities.
  • Participate in the advocacy and campaign required from TDHL such as back to school,WFCL

REPORTING

  • Comprehensive monthly reporting; collect and document feedback from the field on the implementation of the methodology including challenges and lessons learnt.
  • Assist in analysing the data collected and reports both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Provide information about progress when required.
  • Gather input for program development and monitoring
  • Report and support the constant evaluation process about the impact of activities on children/youth.
  • Ensure a daily proper recording of data (# of children, youth, adults participating, activities delivered, etc).
  • Centralize all information (appropriate narrative reports, weekly updates etc.) gathered in the field and consolidate a daily report into the proper reporting format to be delivered to the line manager and technical team for all technical aspects.
  • Provide regular reporting on your activities to the line manager and area manager upon solicitation.
  • Official and ontime Report for any security and safety incident.

ETHIC

  • Abide the TDHL child Protection policy, communication policy and Code of Conduct
  • Openness to working with refugees (Syrian, Palestinian, etc.) and deprived children/youth.
  • Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality
  • Respect and promote TDHL Policies, Prosedures and report to your line manager any non-respect of TDHL policies amongst the teams or partners.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
  • Always respect a refusal or resistance in participating to some activities
  • Always collaborate in a respectful and collaborative way with other colleagues.

 

Communication and Coordination

  • Closed coordination and update with the case workers and the psychologist .
  • Contribute to create a positive atmosphere interacting constructively with colleagues and children/youth and caregivers

 

  • Communicating efficiently with technical team and managers conveying to them ideas and new proposals according to daily observation in dealing with children.
  • Participate with in donor visits and promote proper preparation and implementation.
  • Closed coordination with TDHL teams
  • Communication with the stakeholders and municipalities trough monthly or quarterly visits.

Organiztional Policies

  • Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring it’s the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breachs of the policy;
  • Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regualtions, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.
