Project summary
The Channels of Hope Child protection idea is aimed to create a safe space for faith leaders and their communities to learn, share and debate. COH has a deep understanding that make us feel and experience the way that poverty, violence, abuse and injustice impacts us, the people we work with and the whole community especially the most vulnerable and marginalized children. Thus, we can have a full understanding what is happening in our community by receiving the information in order to respond effectively to the challenges and root causes of the problems, in addition to verify the specific role of the faith community that by working together with other actors in the community can make a change through action plans.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver information with the key parties in the community about the project and role of each one.
- Identify and assess faith leaders in the communities to be engaged in Channels of Hope trainings.
- Maintain regular contact with faith leader as community outreach focal point to ensure a constant flow of information and feedback.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination between the faith leaders
- Collaborate closely with the faith leaders to ensure their availability in the training and sub projects’ planning and implementation.
- Ensure regularly documents for outreach and community mobilization activities.
- Strong understanding in child protection concept and practices aligned with the faith perspectives.
- Assist the project coordinator in designing the MOU/agreements with the partners
- Coordinate with the admin, finance and the logistics departments to ensure that the needed means and tools are available for the running of the project
- Evaluating the project’s activities using several techniques and methods
- Ensure an organized records management systems (both automated and paper files)
- Respecting and applying Islamic Relief policies and procedures
- Perform any other task as assigned by the project coordinator.
Child Protection Policy:
- Commit to respect the Islamic Relief Child Protection Policy
- Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Child Protection Policy
- Commit to respond to any child abuse concerns following the procedures and guidelines on dealing with child’s allegation or suspicion of abuse.
Person Specifications
Experience / Education/Skills- Essential
- A bachelor degree of Social Work (or any other related field) from an accredited University.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relative experience in a similar -position.
- Solid knowledge in Child protection field
Ability To
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Language
- Fluent English & Arabic (written and spoken).
IT skills
- Experienced in MS office and the ability to use software necessary for project management and reporting.
General Skills
- V. Good technical reporting skills.
- Strong planning, communications and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
- Diplomacy, tact & negotiation skills.
