Protection Assistant (Outreach)

About the job 

The Protection Assistant will provide individual protection assistance to persons with specific needs, including cash for protection where relevant.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

1. Conduct outreach to identify persons with protection needs, prioritizing those most vulnerable and difficult to identify, conduct sensitization sessions on key protection issues based on identified needs.  

2. Identify and refer persons with specific needs to appropriate services in line with safe identification and referral principles 

3. Collect information, update and maintain a service map and referral pathway at community level 

4. Provide individual protection assistance to Persons with Specific Needs (PWSN) focusing on: older persons at risk, women at risk (excluding GBV survivors), children at risk (excluding child protection violations) and persons with disabilities. 

5. Provide cash for protection to eligible individuals, set a clear protection objective and follow-up on the impact of assistance. 

6. Regularly record, track and follow-up on referrals using the Referral Information Management System (RIMS). 

7. Collect, store, maintain and analyze protection data produced through outreach, community consultation, RIMS, individual protection and cash assistance in line with safe and ethical information management principles.  

8. Draft individual workplan and participate in regular supervision meetings, information sharing and coordination meetings.  

9. Feed into reporting processes, budgeting and needs and gaps assessments. 

10. Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of acvitivites and projects. 

11. Support the mainstreaming of protection principles to DRC’s program, including partners and local community.​

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor Degree. Moreover, we also expect the following:​

Required  

• Basic understanding of protection principles and concepts 

• Excellent facilitation and sensitization skills, good understanding of key protection issues in Lebanon 

• Knowledge of and commitment to principles of confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion  

• Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills 

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) ​

Desirable 

• Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings 

• 1 to 2 years of experience in case management or individual protection assistance to PWSN 

• 1 to 2 years of experience conducting outreach, providing cash for protection and safe identification and referral 

• Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field​

We offer 

  • Contract length: until 31 March 2019 
  • Level:  B1 
  • Monthly Basic Salary: 1250 USD 
  • Duty Station: Tripoli 
  • Start date: February 2019​
