YBLN Teacher (Lebanese Nationals Only)

Work Context:

Sonbola is a startup grassroots NGO that focuses on delivering educational programs, specifically to fill

the gaps of Syria’s education crisis and address the education of Syrian refugee children and youth, with

a special focus on quality and sustainability.

 

Major Responsibilities:

Provide effective teaching in basic literacy and numeracy to out of school youth in agreed upon locations. 

Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning using interactive teaching approaches.

Implement innovative, age-appropriate, learner-centered teaching methods to engage students.  

 Evaluate students' academic development, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with Supervisor on the individual students' progress. Assess student’s learning progress using assessment tools as provided by Sonbola. 

Prepare lesson plans, teaching handouts and activity sheets prior to sessions where appropriate.

Manage students' behavior in the classroom appropriately in accordance with the center's and program's rules.

Attend departmental meetings, donor meetings, workshops, and training sessions during and outside working hour.

 

Job Requirements:   

BA in Education, teaching diploma or certificate in related fields

Experience teaching classes to youth

Experience with extremely vulnerable youth is a plus

Demonstrated understanding of working with youth and particularly vulnerable youth.

Able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting. 

Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
