Speech Therapist

 Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for conducting speech, language,voice, and communication evaluations for the special needs children who are referred to the unit to assess their respective level of functioning and provide appropriate interventions that will meet their individual needs. 

1.    Communicate with patients to evaluate and diagnose their levels of speech, language, communication, or swallowing disorders.

2.    Determine the extent of communication problems by having a patient complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks or by giving standardized

tests

3.    Identify and analyze the child’s disorder.

4.    Propose quick and effective solutions, then initiate the re-education.

5.    Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan.

6.    Establish the anamnesis of the problem & good communication with the parents.

7.   Establish a relationship of trust with the patients to encourage them to participate and cooperate.

8.   Update the files of the patients (write reports on the evolution of the disorder).

9.   Elaborate a weekly assessment for each patient.

10.  Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals.

11. Work collaboratively with our therapists in other departments to ensure effective communication.

Skills& Competencies:

  •  2-3 years of experience in occupational therapy
  • Experience with certain conditions or working with specific age groups may be preferred
  • Strong understanding of speech-related conditions, causes, and treatments
  • Excellent coaching, verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills
  •  Proficiency with computers, especially patient and healthcare databases
  • Attentive and caring with the ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Patience
  •  An interest in working closely with people
  • Good team working skills
  •  Ability to find solutions to problems
  •  An open-minded and sensitive approach when dealing with cases
  • Knowledge of speech-language diagnostic techniquesKnow how to effectively manage a rehabilitation session

 Working schedule: 3 days per week 8:00 pm till 3:00 pm (days to be chosen between Monday till Friday)
